Cookie policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This page explains which ones Otar Electric uses, in line with PECR and UK GDPR.

Analytics and advertising

With your permission we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, clicks on phone and email links, and contact form submissions), Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors move around and use our pages, and Google advertising features to measure and improve our ads. If you accept, these set the following cookies:

  • _ga: distinguishes visitors. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_X4QKJ2M5DK: keeps session state. Expires after 2 years.
  • Google advertising cookies (for example _gcl_au), used to measure ad performance and, if you allow advertising, to personalise ads. If you allow advertising, details you enter in the contact form (such as your email address or phone number) may be hashed and sent to Google to match enquiries to ads.
  • _clck: Microsoft Clarity. Stores a random visitor ID so repeat visits can be recognised. Expires after 1 year.
  • _clsk: Microsoft Clarity. Links your page views into a single session recording. Expires after 1 day.
  • CLID, MUID and SM: set by Microsoft when Clarity runs, to identify the browser and keep Clarity working across Microsoft services. CLID and MUID expire after 1 year; SM lasts for the session.

Microsoft Clarity records how you move your mouse, click, tap and scroll and shows us an anonymised replay, so we can find confusing pages and fix them. It acts as our service provider; see Microsoft's privacy statement.

None of these are set until you choose Accept or select them under Choose. Before you decide, Google's tag may still send basic, cookie-free signals to Google (such as your IP address, browser type and the page viewed) so that overall conversions can be estimated. You can reject all non-essential cookies with one click.

Language preference

If you choose a language with the language switcher, we store that choice in a cookie called otar_lang so the site opens in your language next time. It is set only when you make that choice, holds just the language code, and expires after 1 year.

Managing cookies

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using (also in the footer of every page). You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or email hello@otarelectric.com.

More on how we handle your data is in our privacy policy.
